As part of the Association of Hawaiian Civic Clubs Annual Convention, clubs have the opportunity to submit nominations for numerous awards. These awards represent the highest honors that are given by our fellow Civic Clubs members from more than 60 clubs in Hawaii and the continent. For this convention, KPHCC was bestowed with two awards! Hoʻomaikai!

Kama Ali’i Award for the 2021 Outstanding Young Hawaiian Civic Club Member: Kainoa Azama

• Civic engagement – takes active interest in and participates in public hearings, meetings and civic club activities
• Appoint as inaugural member to Honolulu Youth Commission by Mayor Blangiardi
• SEAL 2021 Youth Leader for Heirs 2 Our Oceans – taught youth leaders from around the world cultural ideals and values pertaining to environmental stewardship at annual summit held on Hawai`i island.|
•Policy Advocacy retreat youth leader – taught youth from throughout U.S. and territories how to equitably analyze federal legislation and speak with congressional delegates.

 

Prince Jonah Kalaniana’ole Award for the Outstanding Hawaiian Civic Club, 2021

• Civic engagement – working with elected officials and community for the Hawaiian people
• Partnering with other community organizations to uplift our Hawaiian people
• Active participation of club members in neighborhood boards (10 members) and other community organizations
