Oli Workshop
Participants will learn Oli Aloha in the Beamer tradition as shared by club member Keau George. Auntie Nona Beamer was a teacher, composer, author, community trailblazer & cultural advocate and cherished this oli very much. The oli is a welcoming chant which can be used when meeting others, greeting others or expressing your aloha. The workshop will include background on the oli, kaona, basic techniques in delivery, and practice.

Cultural Learning Series w/ Kawaikapuokalani Hewett
Join Kawaikapuokalani Hewett, Kumu Hula, cultural advisor, & beloved member of the Civic Club, at the first gathering of a Cultural Learning Series.

Lei Making for Lei Day
Come make lei in honor of Lei Day! Bring flowers and greens from your garden and talk story while we haku together! You can make any style lei of your choice (wili, kui, etc…). Club hosts will provide insights & guidance in different lei making techniques.
• Date: Friday April 30th (May Day is Sat. May 1st)
• Times: Two blocks available – 2-4pm & 4-6pm
• Location: Club office, Kaneohe Atrium (46-005 Kawa St #104, Kaneohe, HI 96744)
• FREE but must be a current club member in good standing (i.e. dues paid for 2021)
• Only 10 spaces available per block.
• Things to bring: 
-Flowers & greens from your yard 
-Scissors 
-Small hand towel 
-1, one gallon ziplock bag 
-Raffia (if needed) 
-Lei needle (if needed) 
-Face mask 
-A happy heart!
• If you do not have access to flowers/ greens, raffia or lei needles but still want to participate, supplies to make lei pūʻoheʻohe (Job’s Tears lei) will be provided.
