Please arrive at the Kahaluu Regional park no later than 9:45 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 17. We will be parked near the restrooms. Please check in to sign the waiver forms and, if you haven’t paid your dues, you can do it then. This huaka`i is limited to members in good standing!
After everyone has signed in, we will caravan into the valley through a locked gate. We will not be able to provide transportation, so you should plan on using a vehicle that’s not too low and can navigate an unpaved dirt and gravel road that has a few ruts.
For the tunnel tour, you should wear shoes or slippers that you don’t mind getting wet, as we will be walking in about 2 inches of water. You can wear comfortable clothes, shorts are advised because of the water splashing.
You will want to bring flashlights, as the tunnel is pitch dark. Also, empty containers to fill with water from the tunnel source. The tour in and out of the tunnel is about 20 minutes.
The rest of the time, we will be picnicking and talking story. You can also hike up to the waterfall, about an hour round trip.
We will not be able to take anyone out before 2 p.m., so we hope you will plan your schedule accordingly.
