The Hokule’a is a voyaging canoe, that some may consider a living treasure. Our Hawaiian ancestors had a vast knowledge for the sky, and the physical world around them, and because of the mana’o they kept generation to generation, the Hawaiian people became masters and navigators of the Pacific Ocean. Members of the Ko`olaupoko HCC joined with others in Ko`olaupoko to welcome the Hokule’a voyaging canoe on September 29th at He`eia Kea Pier, and later for a pa`ina and kanikapila that same week. The canoe will be leaving soon for a long voyage around the world. We celebrate Hokule`a and its crew, and salute them on their efforts to prepare for their world voyage in 2014.
